Earlier today Council arrests 122 for violating sanitation law

No fewer than 122 persons were arrested on Saturday in Badagry West Local Council Development Area for violating the monthly sanitation order.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that some of the violators were arrested around Seme border and the rest in Badagry.
Chairman of the council, Mr Hontonyon Bamgbose, who monitor the
exercise, decried the apathy of the violators.
“It is amazing how people keep on violating the sanitation law when they were supposed to stay at home for just three hours to clean their environment.
“It goes to show the nonchalant attitude of some people in obeying simple rules and regulations.
“I hope people will learn and change to help this nation in becoming better”, Bangbose said.
Bamgbose also lamented that some security personnel were not helping in enforcing the law as they were seen conveying passengers during the sanitation period.
“It is sad to see some security personnel, who are supposed to be enforcers of the law, conveying passengers during the exercise”, Bangbose stressed.
NAN reports that the violators were fined N5,000 each while those who could not afford the fine were transferred to the Special Offenses Court in Alausa, Ikeja.
