In response to Garage Magazine's infamous "black woman" chair photo, a gay artist from Russia has created a flipped the script in even more NSFW fashion.
The Russian editor-in-chief of Garage, Dasha Zhukova, came under fire for a wildly racist editorial photo showing herself sitting on a "black woman" chair.
At least that's what it looked like. The piece of furniture was made to look like a black woman with a belt around her waist and thighs and her legs up in the air.
Zhukova did apologize for the "regrettable" choice of art, but also defended designer Bjarne Melgaard's intent was a "commentary on gender and racial politics."
Some did not find the apology sufficient, however.
Alexander Kargaltsev, a gay NYC-based photographer and gay activist, decided to stage his own response to the "outrageous and tasteless" portrait.
The image of a naked black man seated on a naked white man, whose legs are folded up to create a "chair," is even crazier than the original, which was his point.
