READ WHAT METUS OZIL THINKS ABOUT 2014 BUSY SCHEDULE
After reading the endless complaining by many about the busy winter Premier League schedule during Christmas and New Year’s it’s refreshing to hear Mesut Ozil’s opinion on the matter. The German international is playing his first season in England and the 25-year-old says he prefers
to play every few days even if he did miss two matches recently with a shoulder problem.
He’s used to a winter break, but said he likes a busier schedule better than taking a break and having a week or more off between matches. The playmaker remarked, “I am very pleased that I am in this league because you go from game to game very quickly. You play every two or three days and for me it is better to play more games than train because I love a challenge and here that is perfect.”
He added that he’s enjoying football and life in England and thanks his fellow German players for helping him adjust and settle in. He feels the fans in England are welcoming and friendly and is pleased he made the move from Real Madrid to the Gunners for about 50 million euros just before the summer transfer window slammed shut.
Ozil believes he still has room for improvement and always strives to do more. “My aim is to develop and improve my game here - but the most important thing is that we play successful football as a team and that, at the end of the season, we win trophies. You have personal goals - you want to remain healthy and want to play successful football, but like I said, the most important thing is to be successful with this team.”
The midfielder has been one of the better transfer buys of 2013 and there’s no reason to believe he won’t improve from season to season.
